Ethereum and its token wallets can only show transactions on the Ethereum network. Likewise, BNB on the Binance Smart Chain and its tokens can only be properly received by a wallet that supports the BNB network. The same is true for Base, Bera, Gnosis, Optimism, Polygon, Sonic and any other network.

Unfortunately many blockchains share the same address format, making it possible to send funds on the wrong network. Fortunately, if you're receiving into your Coinomi wallet, it is possible to recover them. If you made the mistake of receiving funds into your Coinomi address on the wrong network, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the wallet that you tried receiving in (for example, if you used your Ethereum address to receive, open your Ethereum wallet in Coinomi)
  2. At the top corner, select "... / Account details"
  3. Select and copy the Derivation Path value. It should look something like "M/44H/60H/0H"
  4. Go back to Coinomi's main screen
  5. Press the blue "+" button and select "Add coins"
  6. Select the coin that uses the network in which the transaction was actually send (for example, if the transaction was made on the Base network, select "Base")
  7. Tap the ⚙️ icon that will appear on the row of the selected coin
  8. On the popup that will appear, set the Derivation Path option to "Custom" and paste the path copied on step 3
  9. Press OK and confirm adding the new coin

If you followed the instructions correctly, this new coin will have the same address as the "wrong" coin you used to receive. It will contain and control assets sent on the "wrong" network normally. If you received a token, you can then add the token wallet from the "add tokens" list and you will see its balance there.

When sending or receiving, be extremely careful about which network a transaction is being sent in, and which network the receiver supports. Never send funds in one network to a wallet that is expecting to receive funds on a different network. Funds sent on the wrong network will not be visible or accessible by the receiving wallet. In most cases doing so can mean irreversible loss of funds.

Remember that every time you restore your Recovery Phrase on a new device, you will need to follow these instructions to add a wallet with a custom derivation path. To avoid this, we recommend that you add a new wallet with the default settings, and send all funds from the modified wallet to the default one.
